Lowlands and Highlands divided Scotland into two (unofficial geographical) regions, both are worth visiting.
What can you find while exploring the highlands?
Without a doubt, beautiful landscapes with endless mountains stretching for miles is the first thing that comes to my mind. Hiking one of the many trails in this part of the world would be a treat. As well, here you can find incredible crystal clear lakes and the famous deep, freshwater Loch Ness believed to be home to the creature called “Loch Ness Monster.” Let’s not forget about the century-old castles that are scattered all over the land, I mean there are so many of them (I stopped counting). Traveling further north to the island of Orkney you can find The Ring of Brodgar one of the oldest and grand stones circles in the world dating back from 2,500 to 2,000 BC. Not far from there, or should I say on another island precisely the island of Lewis is home to yet another world-famous 5,000 years old Calanais Standing Stones.
